Pine Lakes Country Club

Now Open! After a two year renovation to the course and the clubhouse, Pine Lakes Country Club reopened in March 2009. Play The Granddaddy of all Myrtle Beach Golf Courses!

Pine Lakes Country Club, Myrtle Beach’s first golf resort, has served as the epitome of the traditional golf resort since opening in 1927 as the Ocean Forest Country Club. The course is currently on the National Register of Historical Places and was designed by St. Andrews, Scotland native Robert White. White was the first president of the PGA of America and co-founder of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. Much of the course remained true to original architect’s design. The restoration was directed by nationally-known architect Craig Schreiner. Schreiner was committed to restoring the course to White’s drawings as much as possible to provide golfers with an authentic visit back to early 20th century Scottish golf.

Pinehills at Myrtlewood Golf Club

Not only has PineHills at Myrtlewood been singled out by Golf Digest as one of the “Top Ten Courses” in Myrtle Beach, it also bears the distinction of being the first and only Grand Strand golf course designed by award-winning architect Arthur Hills. Often called upon to redesign fine old venues for PGA and USGA events, Hills’ skillful use of mounding and strategic placement of water hazards transformed the venerable Pines course in 1993, creating PineHills, a modern masterpiece of beautifully contoured fairways and generous greens that delivers the best of the game to golfers of all levels.

Its unique blend of superior Bermuda fairways and Penncross bent Tifdwarf Bermuda grass greens is immaculately maintained to provide a perfect playing surface that includes traditional architectural elements, rolling fairways, undulating greens, ubiquitous water hazards and subtle elevation changes. From the back tees, low handicappers will find a challenge to their decision making more than their distance, while from the forward markers, weekend or vacationing golfers will enjoy a round that asks for – and rewards – a properly planned, well hit shot.

Though it measures out at just over 6,600 yards from the tips, PineHills gives out a stiff test of the sureness of your irons on almost every hole. There are no wide, generous landing areas that typify so many Grand Strand tracks. From the tees, a 300-yard drive is often not as important as working your ball through a small window of opportunity to its optimum target.

For the golfer who enjoys the mental challenges of this grand game, PineHills is an excellent choice. Not only will it force you to think about each shot, it requires you to use more of the clubs in your bag. This is especially true if you play from the back tees, a challenge that is highly recommended by course regulars. From here, you’ll experience all of the obstacles that Hills has crafted. No matter how you choose to attack it, though, PineHills is sure to send you and your partners to the clubhouse with plenty to discuss and debate regarding the finer points of shot planning strategy.

Palmetto Course at Myrtlewood Golf Club

MyrtlewoodPalmettoDesigned by legendary golf course architect Edmund B. Ault, Palmetto at Myrtlewood Golf Club has been a consistent favorite of Grand Strand golfers for nearly two generations, earning continuous rankings as one of the top repeat-play courses in Myrtle Beach. This highly popular course maintains optimal playing conditions throughout the year and is always ready to offer a challenge to golfers of all skill levels.

Palmetto’s traditional design offers accommodating Bermuda fairways that slope gently through old growth pines. Stretching out along the Intracoastal Waterway, the course serves up a variety of hazards and bunkers to test your shot-making abilities as you play your way onto the large, subtly undulating Tifdwarf Bermuda greens.

Palmetto expresses the simple, traditional aesthetic of a classic Ault design. Open fairways offer plenty of legitimate landing areas, but the par 4s are more challenging than they appear and the high bunker population ensures you’ll get in work on your sand game. Throughout your round, you’ll find plenty of solid character and the welcome surprise of a few wild thrills.

With two top-quality courses in a resort setting, an excellent practice facility, exceptional service and hospitality, a perfect location, plus package deals on accommodations, golf, and dining, Myrtlewood Golf Club is the ideal spot for your Grand Strand golf getaway.

Myrtlewood Golf Club is owned and managed by Burroughs & Chapin Golf Management, the leader in delivering quality golf experiences.

Moorland Course at The Legends Resort

Moorland, considered one of the strongest challenges along the East Coast, was designed by noted golf course architect P.B. Dye and is reminiscent of PGA West’s Stadium Course.

Dye’s flair for deep bunkers, multi-level fairways and greens, as well as signature bulkheads, has transformed this land into one of the area’s most requested courses. Created in the Dye tradition, Moorland will challenge golfers to rise to astonishing heights on the sculpted terrain and sink to incredible depths in the bunkers.

Golf Digest crowned Moorland one of the “Top Five New Public Courses in America” and gave it 4.5 STARS in “Places to Play.”
